The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge posted a video call Saturday night with a group of fathers discussing adapting for paternity.
During their video call, the four fathers talked about how UK-based charity Future Men has supported them all with a class on fatherhood. and how they adapted during the pandemic.
The royal couple spoke to Peter Sen and his son Elliot, Graeme Mackenzie and his son Liam, Owen Smith and Sarit Chaturvedi. and Owen Thomas, Future Men’s father program director.
Sen, holding his son Elliot, said, “I think it was a blessing and a curse to be at home in lockdown.
« A blessing that I can see every part of his development and that’s a real joy and no matter how bad or bad he sleeps, he always wakes up with a big smile on his face. ”
Chaturvedi said, « Parenthood is probably the only kind of job, if you can call it [a job] – it’s a very, very difficult job – that we don’t get a practical approach to. « .
« You know, every other job you put in will show you the ropes. At the time when you are completely new to it, being a parent for the first time is very scary. ”
Kate said, « Fathers play such an important role that it shouldn’t be a bad thing to seek help and advice. ”
Future Dads is a one-day course by Future Men that teaches new and future dads how to take care of their baby, partner, and themselves as they adjust to fatherhood. The charity estimates it helps around 500 new fathers each year.
William asked the men, “How does Future Men find some of these other guys out there who don’t have the knowledge or the essentials to look for and build on services like Future Men? happy future as a father?
« Because I’m very worried, a lot of fathers out there who just don’t know what to do and they don’t know where to go. « . And they may not have that good foundation, foundation, or support to know what to do. ”
Kate has made early childhood development and spiritual wellbeing a cornerstone of her royal work. The 5 Big Questions poll that it launched earlier this year, Pre-Coronavirus, is expected to release its results next week. The survey aimed to focus the scope of the work of the Kate Early Years Program.
