World news – HelloFresh apologizes after the customer received a bottle of urine with the delivery

Hey @HelloFreshUK, I’ll keep it simple: Why did I get someone’s bottled piss as part of my order?

A food delivery company apologized on Sunday after a customer received a bottle of urine with their order.

The unwanted ingredient, which appeared to have arrived in an empty Coca-Cola plastic bottle, was in a HelloFresh meal kit that was delivered to an address in the UK.

« Hey @HelloFreshUK, I will keep it simple: Why did I get someone’s bottled piss as part of my order?  » Oliver McManus tweeted on Sunday with a photo of the bottle in question.

When other Twitter users speculated that the bottle was filled with apple juice, McManus offered to return the bottle to HelloFresh.

« I’ll send it to you and you can have a whiff in case you’re skeptical, » he tweeted.

Others pointed out that the bottle may have been accidentally left there by a warehouse worker or delivery person. McManus agreed, saying that the box was already partially open when it arrived.

« The last thing I want is for someone to be fired or in trouble as a result of this incident. It’s unfortunate that it happened, but I’m sure it raises some broader questions about working conditions in the UK, ”McManus told The Independent.

HelloFresh was quick to respond to McManus on Twitter saying they « really don’t have the words to describe how sorry we are » before apologizing to the UK media.

« Given the total Unacceptable nature, we are urgently investigating together with our delivery company how an open box with this bottle was delivered.

“We apologized directly to Mr. McManus and offered an appropriate gesture of goodwill. We are working hard to do everything we can to make sure this cannot happen again. «

McManus seems to have accepted the fiasco on delivery and wrote in a final tweet: » Am I concerned about general working conditions in the UK? Yes. Do I think someone deserves to be fired? Did I think so many people would take care of it? Will I keep tweeting about boxing? Yes. «
