World news – Dershowitz wins: impeachment efforts « threaten the constitution »

« It is against both the constitutional impeachment provisions and against the person. It’s a terrible thing, « Dershowitz told World Israel News.

It appears that President Donald Trump will have to survive a second impeachment if Democrats, led by Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Have theirs in the House of Representatives Prepare case against him.

If the impeachment goes through and there are all indications that Democrats control the majority of the House, Trump will become the only US President to face two indictments. He faces a single « incitement to rebellion » charge.

Famous attorney Alan Dershowitz, one of Trump’s legal teams who defended the president in Congress during the first impeachment, has spoken out strongly against the House Democrats move. He says: « You are ready to tear up the constitution to remove it by any means. »

Dershowitz recently spoke to World Israel News about the impeachment efforts and their importance for the president and the fight against anti-Semitism.

Q: What is your biggest achievement right now with what Congress is trying to do to the President?

« What they’re trying to do is indict him without trying. They’re trying to get an impeachment over his head Wait for him to leave. Then you can try to expel him from future offices. You are trying to bypass the usual impeachment process. It’s mostly symbolic. It threatens the constitution. It is against both constitutional and impeachment laws against the person. It’s a horrible thing. «

Q: You also want Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump. What are your thoughts?

« It is totally incapable. It is totally inapplicable. The 25th amendment applies to incapacity for work. This does not apply to political disagreements. The President is perfectly capable of eight more days in The 25th amendment shouldn’t even be discussed. «

Q: Let’s move on to the fight against anti-Semitism. How difficult is it to fight BDS in court right now?

« Let’s be clear, anti-Semitism is falling, not increasing. BDS is failing. We are winning the battle. Anti-Semitism is growing all over the world and in America condemns. There are pockets of anti-Semitism, but anti-Semitism has increased dramatically since I was a young man. BDS fails on campus. «

» There are two problems. First, you can advocate BDS. You can advocate anything . It is okay to advocate BDS, but you cannot practice it. Practicing BDS is discrimination based on origin and religion of the nation. «

» You need information and courage. You have to be willing to yourself against their peers, faculties and administration. Many students show this courage, and they do it very well. We, the older people, have to support them. «

Q: President Trump took important steps during his presidency to to support Israel. How will President-elect Joe Biden work with Israel after he takes office?

« I think he will be more nuanced. He will support Israel in general. There are some people he has appointed who are raising questions. Kristen Clarke, who was appointed assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division, has a dirty history with anti-Semitism, but most of his appointments have been very good. «

» He has to withdraw the nomination of Kristen Clarke. Second, he should stand firm to fight anti-Semitism on campus. Third, it shouldn’t revert to the Iran deal as it was originally written. It should add some very important changes. «

» The inspections have to be a lot harder. It shouldn’t have an end date for the deal. «
